PLTW

Zela Davis Elementary School has been selected by Project Lead the Way (PLTW) as California’s LAUNCH School of the Year. This prestigious award, the first of its kind to be bestowed by PLTW, was presented to Zela Davis staff at the annual California PLTW Conference in Riverside on January 24th. The conference drew attendees from across California and neighboring states and the school was recognized in front of an audience of over one thousand PLTW teachers and program advocates.

Zela Davis began implementing the PLTW program in 2015, with students from kindergarten through fifth grade engaging in activities such as coding, robotics, and various forms of scientific inquiry and exploration. Our goal is to create curiosity and spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Through students’ experiences with PLTW and other STEM programs at Zela Davis, students now see themselves as future scientists, programmers, engineers, or mathematicians.
